The American Dream and its Consequences

This project explores the racial origins of antique housing patterns and policy in San Francisco,
focusing on the original intention of restrictive zoning targeting non-white areas (Chinatown, Japantown, the Tenderloin,
etc.), the creation of Single-Family zoning, the rise of ‘local control’, fallacies surrounding the decommodification of housing, and the inevitable fallout of Contemporary American City Planning.
