Marycarmen Montañez ’22
Student Manager
Pronouns: she/her/hers
Marycarmen Montañez is a first-generation college student from Anaheim, CA and a senior majoring in Psychology and History. Before coming to CMC, Marycarmen had enjoyed learning history, but taking history courses at the 5Cs has completely transformed how she understands and navigates the world around her. Even more importantly, the history courses she has taken have played a critical role in opening her eyes to the injustices at the hands of unfair systems, and understanding to a greater extent why they came to be and why they were not inevitabilities, but one possible outcome in an array of contingencies. As a lifelong bookworm, Marycarmen is ecstatic to be leading the 75 Books Project along with an incredible team of Research Assistants. She is currently reading The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde and plans to read Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia afterwards. Outside of the Gould Center, Marycarmen is the president of CMC Psychology Club, a Senior Interviewer at the Admissions Office, VP of Science Day for 5C Science Bus and a 1Gen mentor. In her free time, you can find her thrifting, reading, or taking a nap.
