Contested Curriculum: Fighting for Queer History in K-12 Schools

  • Marian Miner Cook Athenaeum (map)

Don Romesburg '93, a lead scholar implementing California's groundbreaking FAIR Education Act, will discuss the long journey to bring LGBTQ history education to the nation's K-12 schools. Today, many states have followed California’s inclusive lead, yet other states and the federal administration are enacting systematic erasures of queer and trans histories. Romesburg will contextualize these tensions and share strategies to make dynamic history education relevant for all students and families.
